Instrumental albums can go two ways. They are utter crap or they are mind-blowing. Theodore Ziraz his Hyperpyrexia belongs to the latter. The main reason why Hyperpyrexia sounds so damn good is the fact that Derek Sherinian (keyboard, Dream Theater) and Brian Tichy (drums, Ozzy) play on this album. Especially the technique of the first makes you forget that there are no vocals. Both take the music a couple of steps further because of their technical capacities and their experience in different genre’s of rock.

Another reason why this album impresses is the variety in sound. Ziraz is inspired by classical music, rock, metal and jazz. He’s not holding back when it comes to exploring all these genre’s on Hyperpyrexia, making this a very interesting album, especially for progressive rock fans.
